California State University-East Bay Admissions
Like all California State universities, Cal State East Bay requires that applicants complete a college preparatory curriculum prior to admission. This curriculum consists of four years of English, three years of mathematics, two years each of U.S. history & government, laboratory science, and foreign language, and one year each of arts and electives. The California State system allows students who have completed honors courses with a grade of C or better to be given additional consideration for admission by adding points to their “eligibility index,” a score used to determine applicants’ eligibility for admission. The index is a sum of high school grade point average and standardized test scores, either from the ACT or SAT. The eligibility index can be calculated in one of two ways: multiply the applicant’s grade point average by 800 and add it to the SAT score, or multiply the applicant’s grade point average by 200 and add it to ten times the ACT score. California residents must have an index of 3502 (SAT) or 842 (ACT). State residents with a grade point average of 3.00 (3.61 for nonresidents) do not need to submit test scores. To make the index consideration easier, Cal State Easy Bay has posted a matrix of grade point averages and the necessary test scores on their admissions website.
